Welcome, Dog Days

According to The New York Times, today marks the beginning of the dog days of summer. I believe it! The Weather Channel says feels like 104 degrees outside. Everything is already dry and wilting. The birds are singing less. It is impossible to do anything outside after 9 am.

All I want to make are shorts, tanks, and breezy tank dresses; all I want to do is stay inside and sew.

I do like the sunlight in the dining room in the afternoon, children with heat-flushed cheeks, and eating raw dinners (because it's too damn hot to cook).

I'm looking forward to more inflatable pool time, making popsicles, walking the dog very early in the morning / at dusk, listening to cicadas.
