Compliments & Complaints

Compliments
A friend of mine asked me to help her shop for a wedding dress. We did not find one, but it was an adventure and it was such a compliment to know that she valued my opinion.
One of the women who buses tables at work the other day asked me if I exercise to stay skinny. It was great timing, just as I was starting to feel hefty again. The communication wasn't so flawless though - her English isn't perfect and I can't speak any Spanish. It took me a while to figure it out.
That same day I was taking a co-worker, who had to leave her horse behind when she moved to Texas, out to meet Faux Pas. On the way I pointed out a little house that has been for rent for a while that I adore. I am not moving out too soon, and couldn't afford it alone if I was, but it's so cute! She then threw out the possibility of us becoming roommates this summer. I can't think of a better compliment to get: You're so cool I think I could stand to share my personal space with you!

Complaint
There is some prime parking behind the Texas State History Museum, across MLK from campus. It is very close to the location of my morning class, so I generally park there. The only problem is that there is no light or cross walk, so you have to cross two lanes of traffic, stand in the chicken lane, and then cross the other two to get to campus. This morning when I pulled into that same chicken lane to left onto the street I park on there was already a man standing in the lane, so I gave him plenty of space, but was a was from the street I was turning on. When traffic was clear I started to turn, though it was kind of long and wide to avoid hitting the man, when a group of five students, who looked old enough to be upperclassmen or graduate students, stepped directly into my path, almost in front of my truck, and decided to cross into the chicken lane. Needless to say I slammed on my breaks, and was then left with my bumper angled towards on coming traffic, no room to back up because the cars behind me had pulled forward, no room to move forward so that I could turn, because they were now standing in front of me, unable to cross the other two lanes.
I was late to class because this whole event added more than five minutes to my trip. They didn't offer a sheepish wave, no shrug, smile, wave, "Thanks," nothing. What makes it more important for them to get to campus than for me to get to class. I do everything right and the bad-guys win?
If they try it again I am not stopping.

I'm sorry to bother you, but I just have to ask. Why did you feel empty inside when you watched Pan's Labyrinth??

Since nobody else is actually posting comments about this post I thought I would take this opportunity to tell you about My Cheri Amore and I Was Made to Love Her by Stevie Wonder. Both songs about love. Pure happiness.
