My dad took Emma for a walk around the lake yesterday.

Let's start this story over again: It was nearly 100 degrees yesterday in Austin. My dad took Emma for a walk around the lake.

The weather took everyone by surprise. None of us were ready for it. After about a mile and a half around the lake two things happened: 1) Emma over heated, 2) Emma's feet blistered from the crushed granite.

My wonderful father carried my 60 lb. dog for almost two miles to get her back to the truck.

When he got home from dinner last night we talked about what had happened, theorized about causes and carried Emma in and out of the house to go to the bathroom. We brought food and water to her bed and encouraged her to eat. (Her recent eating habits are another entry entirely)

My Dad just called me to check on her. He sure does love his granddog.

Poor Emma! News of the heat wave has travelled all the way up to me, where it was in the 40s yesterday. I can't believe your dad carried her 2 miles. Did he do it over his shoulders? Cause that would be pretty cool.
