I first learned about female genital mutilation when I was a kid - about 12 - from 60 Minutes.

I worked in a hospital for a while and one of the nurses I worked with had spent some time in Africa. She had some terrible stories of the mutilation done to young woman. It was done much the same way boys are circumsized... /shiver
